Woo Hoo Andy!

Instead of a thesis, Andy has had to do a research project for his Master's program. I'm not 100% sure what it was all about, but I tried to be supportive about it!

Anyway, as of today he is done. He did his presentation on his project yesterday and got the final word from his professor today that he's done! Way to go Andy, I'm so proud of you!

I should have had someone video tape his presentation for me...bummer! :)

Smooth sailing from here on out, right?! haha!

Good job Andy! I love you!!

Throwing a fit

This morning Jack felt like throwing a fit for no apparent reason. Frustrating? Yes, but also a little funny. Then all of the sudden he was happy and decided to find his left over breakfast and help himself to it. I was a little afraid to take it away from him, in case he thought that would be a worthy fit throwing cause. Luckily he decided to be happy and let me feed him.

It’s weird really, sometimes he’ll just be sitting on the ground and I can tell he’s trying to decide whether he should be happy or throw a fit. more than half the time he decides to throw a fit there’s not reason for it. I don’t remember Avery every doing this! When Jack does flip out Avery just looks at me and says “Mom, Jack’s throwing a massive fit!”

This morning I canned apple-pear sauce(quart jars), and cinnamon apple-pear sauce (pint jars). Yum!

I love canning.

Also...

Avery is potty trained!!! YAY!!!

I can do better than this….

Wow, I've really been bad about blogging lately. I need to take more pictures...I’m not a once a week blogger, I’m better than this. :)

Tonight we went with our friends to pick Apples and pears. The boys had fun playing in the dirt and tormenting a poor little dog, while we loaded up on fruit.

We got a ton, and we plan on canning lots of applesauce, probably some apple-pear sauce.

P9280438
Maybe some apple pie filling. We'll see how much we can get out of the fruit. But I'm excited to do something besides jam. And I love canning, so this should be fun! I'm sure I'll blog about it. :)

A couple random things, Jack has gotten really “good” at throwing fits. He does the full on throwing himself on the floor, screaming, crying….the whole deal. Not so fun.

I like to have my boys wear matching clothes. I do it a couple times a week at least. It’s fun for me.  And I like to think they like it too! :)

I just thought this was funny. One day he just wouldn’t keep his arm in his shirt…not sure why! He woke up from his nap like this and just kept doing it all day. Avery thought it was hilarious.

What we've been up to...

Not much really, but Andy says I don't blog enough. I think I need to take more pictures, then I'll blog more.

Avery is on day 4 of potty training. We've tried a couple other times in the past but it hasn't worked out for one reason or another. This time I told him that when his diapers were gone we're not getting any more and he gets to wear undies (that's what he calls them).
And he's only had one accident! Woo Hoo! He's doing great, and I'm so happy I'm only changing one kids diapers again! It's crazy that he's not a baby anymore, how did that happen?!

Andy's schedule has worked out to where we have a "weekend" that is the same length as his work/school week. Spoiled much? Yes, and we love it! So he works and goes to school Monday-Thursday, but really only half a day Thursday. Then we have the rest of Thursday-Sunday as our weekends. We love it so much!

I love that it's starting to feel like fall. I love fall. I love wearing jeans ans sweaters, and how crisp the air feels. Most of all I love the fall colors. It's so pretty when the trees start to change colors!

We're excited for the new season of shows to start. Lame? Probably, oh well. We're really liking Glee this year. And as always we love The Office!

On a sad note, I think my sewing machine is dying. I don't know if I can go very long without a sewing machine, I use it a lot. Hopefully I can figure out what's wrong with it, other wise I will be sewing machine shopping soon!

See, really not much going on...maybe I should get the boys out and do something so I have something to blog about!

I love my boys

They don't come any cuter than this...(don't try and tell me otherwise! :) )he looks a little out of it in this...still cute though.
This morning we took Avery to Lowe's for a free kids workshop class thing. He got a cute little apron, safety goggles, and a kit to build a drum. He looked so cute! We're totally signing him up for more of these, it was so fun! (Then we tortured ourselves by walking around dreaming of all the things we'll do to our imaginary first home...we can't wait to buy someday!)

Also, I did this cute little project. It's an altered notebook. I'm going to use it for a shopping list/to do book. If I'd been thinking more I'd have cut it down to fit in my shopping cart caddy...I suppose I still could, we'll see.

How did he get so big?!

2 of Avery's favorite things to do right now are sing the abc's, and "read" a book called "But Not The Hippopotamus". When the boys and I run errands during the day Avery insists on singing the abc's the whole time we're in the car...over and over again. It's really adorable to hear him sing it though! So here's a video.

Also, we've read the Hippopotamus book to him so often that he has it mostly memorized, he loves it and now Jack loves it too. It's pretty cute when he recites it to us. Jack especially likes Avery to read it to him.

Jack loves books

Jack loves to "read" books. I may have blogged about this before, but it's just so darn cute.

He can usually be found sitting on the couch, floor or bottom step with a book. If he's not sitting with one, he's walking around trying to find a place to get comfy and enjoy a good read. He also loves when we read to him, which is a nice change from trying to rip up books and climb off our laps after 3 seconds. He's got such a fun personality, we sure do love him! And he's really really adorable, so that definitely makes everything better! :)
He says a "b" sound sometimes when he brings be a book, I've been trying to get him to say book, it's cute when he tries.

easiest kid apron ever

I love craft blogs. I could seriously look at them all day, but then I want to make everything I see.

One of my favorites to visit is Somewhat Simple, Stephanie who is the creative mind behind the blog has some really great ideas! Maybe too many... :) She's doing a challenge this month where each week she will post a tutorial to try and then everyone who wants blogs about it after it's done...anyway, the first one is a kids apron out of a placemat. The one she made is adorable!Mine, as usual is a ghettofied version...I used a dish towel instead, I thought it would absorb more than a placemat...we'll see if it was a good choice after the boys try them out. They were so easy though, it only took about 5 minutes. Next time I'll make them cute!

I can't wait to see what the next tutorial is!

Crafting spree

This week I did some crafting for a package I sent off, and I just couldn't stop! Once I start crafting I can't seem to stop!

So here are a few of the things I made-

Thanksgiving wall hanging. I got an Easter wall hanging at the dollar store and used mod podge and scrapbook paper I already had. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Before:After:Shopping Cart Caddy, thanks to a tutorial from Rebecca at Blue Cricket Designs. (I did mine a little different, just because of my scrap fabric I was using)Magnets - I did some really simple button magnets and some clothes pin magnets. We use magnets a lot. Something I never thought I'd be excited about...And last, and probably my favorite craft of the week...I saw this idea on DollarStoreCrafts.com.
They call it a Mosaic Headboard. I got self adhesive laminate tiles at Home Depot and stuck scrapbook paper I already had, and nailed them to the wall.
We've been wanting something above the bed for a long time now and this was so easy and I really like it. It might not match our current bedding, but I still like it!
