The Final Frontier...

This post is not actually about Star Trek, but it does involve flying...

When I flew out to Missouri with both boys we flew with Frontier Airlines. The flight out was fine, but coming home was a different story.

My sister drove us to the airport Thursday morning and on the way there we got caught behind an accident and ended up getting to the airport about 30 minutes before mt flight was scheduled to leave. The lady at the ticket counter told me I was too late to make the flight if I was checking bags so I tried to get them to let us on and send the bags on a different flight. Apparently that's against their policy. Being nice must be against their policy too.

Anyway as I was getting denied a couple ran over and said they made the flight standby and checked their bag so they could get on. They probably got my seats too!! SO frustrating!

I called the airline to complain but all they said was it was my fault for being late. I told them I realized I was running late but the point was that the standby people checked their bags and still got on the plane! MY plane!! But it was still my fault.

The boys and I proceeded to try and get on several flights that day standby but never did, by the time I missed the second flight I just cried. It was horrible. Really horrible. And the frontier people still insisted it was all my fault. I was just so mad the standby people checked their bags...that's why I missed the flight!! How does that make sense!?

In the process I lost the stroller and Avery's bag of activities to keep him occupied and me sane. Sarah was great and picked us up a new stroller and some awesome stuff for Avery.

My poor sister had to keep driving back and forth to the airport with us all day. Finally I called Andy and told him to please either get them to switch my tickets to a concrete flight or start looking for tickets on a different airline. It was cheaper for us to get it on a different airline then to stay with Frontier. When I called and when Andy called we told them we'd never be flying frontier again. Everyone at their headquarters and at the airport was so rude to me and wouldn't do anything to help me and my crying exhausted boys. I was the worst day.

The flights were all about 3 hours apart, and if you've been to the KC airport you know there's nothing to do there. So I was really grateful for my sister for doing so much driving for us!!

So instead my dad drove us back to the airport for a 6am flight the next day. Which we made. Thank goodness. We were all so tired. Avery slept for 2 hours the first flight and then just vegged the whole second flight.

It was a looong unpleasant ordeal, but I am glad it's over.

Frontier doesn't know who they messed with. And I'll never fly with them again. Seriously.

Now back to the regularly scheduled happy posts about my cute kids...!

Ugh!! What a crappy situation!! Poor you! It is so hard to fly with kids, when the circumstances are perfect...

Glad you finally made it home. (I bet Andy is too!)

How awful! I feel so terribly for you. I hate rude customer service. What jerks.

The 30 min thing is standard and the not letting you take a different flight then your bags is standard, but to then let stand by people check bags is weird. When I fly stand by, I only bring carry-on, because they usually don't check bags last second. That seems unfair. Maybe the stand by people were having an emergency and you being late was an answer to a prayer.
