Our weekend started early yesterday. I got off work around 1:30 and we made the quick drive up to Salt Lake. Our first stop was the Children's Museum at the Gateway mall. Avery, though too young to really appreciate all of the activities, really enjoyed the ball area (with all kinds of tubes to put balls in) and water area (with little water falls and tubes). He cried when we gently guided him away from both areas. Other fun things he enjoyed were a car he liked pretending to drive, a horse he pretended to ride, and an old life-flight helicopter he played in.

Our main reason for going there at this time was the special Sesame Street Presents: The Body exhibit that ends in a couple weeks. The first part of the exhibit just had replicas of part of Sesame Street (building facades and whatnot). He got pretty excited when he saw that and then heard voices of some of the Sesame Street characters, but then freaked out with joy when he saw pictures of some of the characters on some large blocks. He just squealed with delight and started rattling off the character names he knew. His favorite parts of this exhibit were "Grover's Dance Party", Elmo's house, a toothbrushing thing with Ernie, and the huge Big Bird cutout.

Next, we went out to dinner at a place called the Market Street Grill. It was fun for us to go to a "Nicer" place that's not Chile's or Applebees. We both had grilled salmon, and it was delightful. Avery, however, was a bit of a spaz. Eventually, Kizzie told him that he was in timeout so he just sat there silently with his arms folded. I was very impressed, and it made the rest of the meal much more pleasant!

Lastly, earlier in the day I got an email from my brother Mike who had received 10 free tickets to that night's Utah Blaze (Arena Football) game, so at 7:00 we met my brother Mike, his family, and my brothers Jon and Chris at the game. We were a little nervous that Avery would freak out since it was so loud, and it would soon be past his bedtime. Much to our surprise and delight, however, he was great the whole time. He spent much of the evening sitting on his uncles' laps sucking his thumb or pointing at the field saying "football, football."

We finally returned home around 11:00. It was a busy and expensive day for us (financed by all of Kizzie's recently sold craft items and unneeded baby items- gotta love craigslist), but it was a lot of fun, and always good times with family.
