Fun and Fireworks!

The morning of the 4th we woke up bright and early and went to the Balloon Fest here in town, we've gone the last 3 years. I think the boys liked it... :)We met up with some of Andy's MSW classmates for breakfast and to watch the balloons take off.
I know the boys liked the food! :) Jack got down and crawled around, he made himself comfortable on the blanket of one of Andy's classmates and charmed them into letting him play with a cell phone. After the balloons we went grocery shopping. Woo Hoo!

In the afternoon we met up with family and went swimming, had dinner and Andy's brother's house and then did some daylight fireworks, then some more when it got a little darker.I was so tired, and the boys were too, that we headed home at about 9:30 and went straight to bed, so we didn't really watch any firework shows this year. We did see some on the drive home.

It was a fun day, busy and fun.

Avery's last birthday present

We bought Avery's birthday present a couple weeks before the boys and I left for Missouri. We decided to wait til we got back to give it to him.

So here he is, on his new trike! He loves it! We went out and got him a helmet, which he's also pretty excited about. The handle on the back is nice to help keep him on track, he's still got some work to do on steering. Anyway, it just comes right off when we're ready to let him roam free.

The Final Frontier...

This post is not actually about Star Trek, but it does involve flying...

When I flew out to Missouri with both boys we flew with Frontier Airlines. The flight out was fine, but coming home was a different story.

My sister drove us to the airport Thursday morning and on the way there we got caught behind an accident and ended up getting to the airport about 30 minutes before mt flight was scheduled to leave. The lady at the ticket counter told me I was too late to make the flight if I was checking bags so I tried to get them to let us on and send the bags on a different flight. Apparently that's against their policy. Being nice must be against their policy too.

Anyway as I was getting denied a couple ran over and said they made the flight standby and checked their bag so they could get on. They probably got my seats too!! SO frustrating!

I called the airline to complain but all they said was it was my fault for being late. I told them I realized I was running late but the point was that the standby people checked their bags and still got on the plane! MY plane!! But it was still my fault.

The boys and I proceeded to try and get on several flights that day standby but never did, by the time I missed the second flight I just cried. It was horrible. Really horrible. And the frontier people still insisted it was all my fault. I was just so mad the standby people checked their bags...that's why I missed the flight!! How does that make sense!?

In the process I lost the stroller and Avery's bag of activities to keep him occupied and me sane. Sarah was great and picked us up a new stroller and some awesome stuff for Avery.

My poor sister had to keep driving back and forth to the airport with us all day. Finally I called Andy and told him to please either get them to switch my tickets to a concrete flight or start looking for tickets on a different airline. It was cheaper for us to get it on a different airline then to stay with Frontier. When I called and when Andy called we told them we'd never be flying frontier again. Everyone at their headquarters and at the airport was so rude to me and wouldn't do anything to help me and my crying exhausted boys. I was the worst day.

The flights were all about 3 hours apart, and if you've been to the KC airport you know there's nothing to do there. So I was really grateful for my sister for doing so much driving for us!!

So instead my dad drove us back to the airport for a 6am flight the next day. Which we made. Thank goodness. We were all so tired. Avery slept for 2 hours the first flight and then just vegged the whole second flight.

It was a looong unpleasant ordeal, but I am glad it's over.

Frontier doesn't know who they messed with. And I'll never fly with them again. Seriously.

Now back to the regularly scheduled happy posts about my cute kids...!

Randomness from Missouri

First, Jack has loved playing peek-a-boo the last few days, and it's so so cute!Second - My Dad was grilling some chicken for dinner tonight and while he was away a nasty neighborhood dog stole our chicken! Seriously?! Talk about disappointing!

Third - I made an adorable table runner this afternoon, and next week I will make coordinating hot pads out of the left over fabric, I can't wait to see how it looks in my dining room!Fourth - Last night when I went in to bed I found Avery in the portable crib with Jack, and they had emptied out my suitcase and played with several messy things from my make-up bag, the homeopathic teething tablets for Jack were opened and eaten. (this morning Avery informed me he put some up his nose, to help him feel better. crazy!) They had lipstick on their faces. It was a mess. Tonight I will zip my suitcase.Unrelated to my kids - I have some of the most adorable nieces and nephews. Seriously... Check out this little beauty, I love this picture! I need to get pictures of the rest of the good looking bunch! And last, for now, Avery helped Grandpa make milkshakes for dessert. He's a little wired, but he had fun! And they were yummy, by the way!
*Avery's Birthday Party post is below this*

Happy Birthday Avery!!

Avery is 3!! He's so big, smart and hilarious and sassy of course!
He got a yummy pancake breakfast, happy meal for lunch and rockin' awesome family party at the park!He was so spoiled, and he still has the present we already got him waiting for him at home. Lucky boy!

We did a pirate themed party, had juice, fudge bars and ice cream sandwiches...and it was still SO hot and totally uncomfortable! Ick! I can do without the humidity, thank you! When I took the party hat off of Avery's head it had an inch of sweat along the rim and was all curled up on the bottom, nasty.

Avery had a blast though, so it was worth it!
