15 month appointment

Avery had his 15 month well visit this past week. He's getting so old!!
He weighed in at 23.13 and is 31 3/4" long. He's such a boy! he loves to play with his bouncy ball, and drive his truck all over anyone who will let him(while making a sound similar to "vroom"). He's saying a few words now too, and he's always trying to mimic the sounds we're making, which is pretty funny sometimes! He baby talks a lot too! He's always telling some funny story or joke, at least he thinks its funny by the way he laughs when he's done! He's so social and out going, and I'm not quite sure where he got that from! he loves talking to people in the store, he'll say "hi" to them until they say something back. It's pretty funny!

We made a list a while back of the words he says:

It's so fun to watch this little person grow! He's really becoming quite the character! He loves to give kisses, "help" with laundry, and play outside. And every morning when I get him out of bed one of the first things he says is "daddy?" and looks around either until we find Andy or I tell him daddy's at work. It's so cute! He sure loves dad!
He's also quite the little tease! If you ask him for a kiss he'll lean in like he's going to plant a wet one on ya and then turn away and laugh! He also does similar things if you ask him to give you something, or ask him to come to you. He pretends like he's going to until the last second. And the fake out is always accompanied by a big smile or a giggle!
One thing that I love that Avery does is when I put my shoes on, or ask if he wants to go outside, he runs to the front door and stands there trying to open it until I get there. He LOVES it outside! Which is great most of the time! No matter how long I let him play out there he always cries when we come in. And sometimes he even stands at the living room window crying while he stares out! It's one of the cutest things ever!
He's just so fun to be around. He does something new and cute every day. I'm just so happy and grateful that he's mine to keep. Though at times it is a little overwhelming, this motherhood thing, I wouldn't trade it or give it up for anything! I just wish he wouldn't grow quite so fast! My baby is turning into a toddler!!!!

What I was doing 10 Years ago....

10 years ago, I was 12...I was probably doing what all 12 year olds were doing - being silly, crushin' on some little boy I thought was so cute! I think I was the beehive class president. This was also the year I met my 3 best friends!

What I was doing 5 years ago.....

2002...I probably spent a lot of time hanging out with friends, I worked at Baskin Robbins for a while, I think I was the Laurel class president at this point. but then, I think I was also the only Laurel...! I don't really remember anything hugely exciting happening.

What I was doing 1 year ago.......

1 year ago I was just getting back from an extended vacation with Avery. We had spent about 4 weeks in Washington and Missouri visiting family. I was loving having a new little baby! Andy was in school, and we were about to move across town.

What I was doing yesterday.....

Umm...I don't remember!? Lets see...I went visiting teaching, sewed a little, took Avery to the park, and I think we went to Wally world. Exciting!

5 places I'd rather be....

1) closer to family (somewhere in the midwest)
2) Anywhere that it stays about 65 degrees all year long!
3) On the warm beach
4) Right this very second I'd rather be shopping...or eating somewhere really yummy!
5) I can't think of a 5th one.


5 treats/snacks I love............

1) honey roasted peanuts

5) beef jerky, I have a real weakness for this stuff! mmmm

What I would do with 100 million dollars...

Spend it. just kidding! but really...no... :)
I think I'd buy a really nice house and car, pay off debt and save the rest! And maybe buy new wardrobes for us. just for fun! :)

Silas and Robyn came up for a visit this weekend, so we had them take some pictures for us. It's been about a year since we had our family pictures taken so it was about time. Here is a slide show of some of the better ones. And then some extras of Avery, cause he's just so cute! :)

Success with a fork!

I've been giving Avery a fork with his meals off an on for a while now, and up until today he hasn't really done anything productive (in my eyes!) with it. But, for dinner tonight he fed himself ravioli and mandarin oranges with a fork!! Yay! Success! he still was just as messy as usual, and used his hands a little...but he can do it! I was so excited, I took pictures! And when I called to tell Andy at work he asked if I was going to blog about it! :) So here are some pictures of my little boy being so big!

Also, someone posted this link to make faux "baby legs"on MC, so I decided to try it out today. they turned out really cute! (I think so anyway!) I just wish I could have found some socks that were more boyish so Avery could actually wear these. I think they'd be nice under pants in the winter, and they're really cute for a layered look under t-shirts...Anyway, even though the ones I made are girly I made Avery try them on. He hated it. that may have had a lot to do with the fact that he just woke up from a nap and I started shoving girly sock things on his arms and legs...oh well. He's VERY forgiving! :) (DIY directions for baby legs)

In other news, I got new curtains for our living room! I think the color combination is nice. and it makes the living room look less boring now that the curtains are a bold color. here's a little picture of the combo of the couch/pillow/curtain. If you don't like it, don't tell me! :)

Something fun....

I saw this on Sarah's blog...who copied Nat'. And since I've got nothing else to do, why not dump out my little purse and take pictures of it's contents to share with who knows how many people...! So here goes!

There's actually a lot less than I thought there would be. I guess that's the advantage to switching from diaper bag to "real" purse every few days! If I did this with my diaper bag...it could be a little scary!

According to this Avery looks more like me than 9%, though no one has EVER told us that he looks like me at all! Most people say he looks like Andy. So this made my day!! :)

Home again, home again...

Vacations are so fun, but it's always good to come home!

We had so much fun visiting family in Missouri, if only Avery had been in a better mood! He started our trip out by teething, and moved right into a cold! So he was a little whiny and clingy the whole time, but we survived!

Avery had fun watching movies on the way out, he only slept for about 3 hours the whole 17 hour drive!!! But, he did really well. thank goodness!

While we were there we had a birthday party at the park for the August people, went to a softball game, went shopping, hung out with friends and family, I got to spend the day with my sister and sister-in-law eating out and going to movies (I loved Hairspray!!), went to an Amish community, and in general had a really good time hanging out with everyone!

Out with the old, in with the new...

...Laptop that is. My poor little laptop has taken quite a few beatings, before it was mine Andy used it for school, and dropped it at least once. Then there was the time I spilled chocolate beverage all over it(the keys still get stuck down!). And I don't know how many times Avery's beat on it!
It must have been so tired, because one day it just decided it didn't want to turn on. I guess it was ready to be retired!! I was way bummed though because all my stuff is on it, I backed everything up a few weeks ago but there's still some new things on it. I tried to turn it on every day (at least once!), hoping I could at least get my stuff off! Well, it finally came on! So now I can get all the pictures off, but I'm still nervous to use it, I don't want to lose everything permanently!!
So, we saw a really great deal on a laptop during the Labor Day sales and after hunting down a store that still had one in stock and driving 30 miles to pick it up I got a new laptop! It's a lot bigger than my old one, but at least it turns on and the keys don't get stuck! Now I just have to transfer all my stuff over, which is the most annoying part. Much like moving. Unpacking is the worst for me!

Anyway...I'm excited about my new computer, and glad that I don't have to worry weather it will turn on in the morning or not!
