Smiles

Nora has been all smiles lately and we LOVE it! Here are some of her happy faces I've caught on camera -

Dress shirt to apron

A couple weeks ago Sis called and asked if I wanted to do an apron swap with her, the idea was to use dress shirts from a thrift store to make the aprons, the uglier the shirt the better. We were supposed to make them cute.
I love sewing, and thrift stores, and aprons (I spill a lot) so this sounded perfect!

I used the tutorial that Selissa made (here) to cut out my apron then I added some of my own touches.
I used 2 shirts, the main apron fabric was pretty ugly (I thought so, anyway) but it was amazing to me that once I cute the apron out the fabric suddenly wasn't so ugly. The style it's made into makes so much difference. I'm happy with how it turned out and can't wait to get mine in the mail from her!

Andy's birthday cake

I'm pretty proud of the cake I made Andy this year. My friend Amelia emailed asking for cake ideas for her son's birthday, he wanted a star wars cake. So that got me thinking of one I could make Andy. (I'll leave out the little boy's age...so you don't think Andy is too juvenile! :) He's just young at heart.)

I decided on an R2D2 cake, it didn't turn out perfect, but everyone could tell what it was so I'm okay with it.

Avery's Kindergarten gems

Avery brings home lots of cute things from school here are a couple of my favorites from this week.
"My favorite food is ice cream and tacos" (I don't believe the taco part 100%...)
This one needs some translation, it says "If I found a pot of gold I would share with my friends"
I love when he brings something home that he's proud of. He really does love school, I just hope those feeling continue!

Delayed Christmas gift exchange

Josiah and Kris weren't here for this past Christmas, so our gift exchange was postponed until they came in February. It was worth the wait.

For those of you who haven't seen Arrested Development my gift to Josiah won't make sense. At all.
I gave Josiah a Tobias Funke themed gift, complete with never-nude cut offs (maybe they should be paired with his shirt from last year!)and personalized business cards declaring his unconventional profession...

Josiah won this year, I mean my gift was awesome, but he threw in an awesome sentimental gift with his usual crazy/gaudy jewelry. I proudly wore out on our sibling group date the next night.  Josiah also wore his Dr. Funke's 100% natural good time family band solutions t-shirt. (No pictures, bummer)

The big part of Josiah's gift to me (us) was a hope chest he made for Nora. It's absolutely beautiful, I love it and I love that he took the time to make something so special. I know Nora will love it when she's older.

I'm already looking forward to next exchange. I love it.
