When we moved into our house we knew the roof was old (original to the house - 41 years old. In roof years that's like on life support.) and would need to be replaced in the next few years. Sadly for us, we quickly noticed right away that that timeline would need to be moved up. As we were losing shingles every time it was windy, but not enough damage was being done for the insurance to kick in and replace it. Then a month or so ago it started leaking in the boys room. Not good. We called up my handy contractor Brother-in-law and got the ball rolling to get a new roof.
So on Tuesday morning he and his crew came out and by Wednesday afternoon we had a new roof! I'm so happy to not have to worry about when it's really going to start leaking, and how many more times can we call and have an adjuster come out and tell us it's not bad enough...or worry about the mystery leak in the garage every time it rains. Now it's normal and new and no more worries for me! No vacation either...but that's definitely okay. : ) I like my new roof!
Also, we have plans (dreams, maybe?) to re-side the whole house (only the front is brick), so we were worried that it would look really really (really!) bad having a new roof but cedar shingles on the side still, but it doesn't. I don't even hate it! We'll still replace the shingles with siding someday, but maybe we'll let something more important come first instead. Like windows. That would be nice for the look of the house and the utility bills! I'm definitely okay waiting til next year to start our next big project, though. One step at a time!

Moving up...
Avery finished kindergarten this month, how crazy is that?!
We had such a good experience with his school and teacher. We already knew it, but Avery proved to everyone else what a little smarty pants he is! On the last day of school we found out he has been accepted into the gifted program for next year, his teacher told us towards the start of the school year that she thought he was advanced enough to be a candidate. We are so proud of him for being so awesome. :)
He also received a citizenship award at the end of the year. He loves school and is excited to go back as a first grader in the fall!

Baby Avery and his look-a-like
Found these in my hope chest. I think that Nora looks an awful lot like Baby Avery :) I'll have to find some pictures to compare them side by side.
Either way, he was a cute baby!
Here's a picture of Nora doing a similar crooked mouth thing. Put a bow on Avery and they could be little twins. I think so anyway!
I have cute kids. The end.

He is his father's child...
Jack has quite the 'fro. It's hilarious. It's the curliest when it's humid outside, when it's wet, or when I blow dry it after a shower. Yes. I've used a blow dryer on his hair. Only once or twice though. :)
He mostly takes after me. A little crazy, a little moody (compared to Andy, anyway!) darker complexion than Avery and Andy...but he definitely gets his hair from his dad! :) Next time we'll see how many pencils we can get in there!

She looks fat...
And she is sort of...but not. :)
Nora girl had her 4 month well check today. Those cheeks are deceiving, she is weighing in at 12 pounds 9 ounces and is 25" long. That's the 25th percentile for weight and 75th for height. All her weight is stored in those squeezable, kissable, pinchable cheeks I guess. : )
