Spirit week

Avery has been loving school. All the fun things he gets to do, making new friends and eating school food {almost} every day. On Friday he came home super excited for Spirit Week this week, and he talked about crazy sock day all weekend.

He was a little worried we wouldn't have anything that would work or I'd have to make him new socks (yeah...right!!) but we managed. So today for school he sported 2 different style leggings on his arms and legs. He thought it was plenty crazy and we thought he looked so cute! : )
Now on to planning for the rest of the wardrobes for spirit week! : )

Fall craft

I subscribe to a lot of blogs. too many probably, but it's so fun to read and see what other people are doing. My favorite blogs are sewing/crafting blogs.

The other day when I was browsing through all my unread blog posts I came across this adorable (and easy looking!) fall wreath tutorial over at Shanty-2-Chic. I loved it right away and planned on just copying it, cause I do that. But Andy suggested I make ours with more color, so I found all the things I needed for super cheap at Hobby Lobby and got to work.
I think I love how mine ended up maybe I would have liked some more rosettes on it (this is my first time making rosettes and I LOVE them!!!) but overall I'm very happy with it. And it looks cute hanging on our front door!

Now I want to decorate the inside of our house for the Autumn season!

"New" bedroom

Last month Andy and I tackled the task of decorating our bedroom. We've never really done that in any of the places we've lived. Our bedroom is usually the catch all place, somewhere that we throw things we don't know where else to put it or toss things in there in a last minute spiff before company arrives.

We had a lot of fun with this project, it started with a pretty quilt we found at target. We hadn't really planned on re-doing the room right then but the quilt was pretty so we got it. Then I started collecting picture frames at garage sales and good will for a collage idea I had.

I seriously love what a difference paint and some scrapbook paper can make! (a little fabric and a gorgeous vinyl chandelier too!) This is one of my favorite things in our room! And this project was completed for around $15!!
before and after of our lamps. I've never liked our lamps much, but they worked so we never replaced them. A new lampshade and a few coats of paint and I like them much better!

A few cans of spray paint, some new curtains and coordinating fabric later we have a pretty room that we love and are excited about! It still gets piled with laundry and some random items, but we try to keep it nice and clean. And sometimes I like to just look at our handy work.

We bought the blanket and curtains, but other than that we made/re-purposed everything else in there. Even Andy took on one project on his own and totally rocked it. : )

we decided 4 was too dinky, so we added a couple more. Andy took this on by himself, best looking fabric covered canvases ever! : )
Next projects - master bathroom and baby room!
