Has it really been 4 years?!

Today Avery turned 4 years old! It seems like he gets smarter (or maybe just more smart mouthed) every day!

Tonight we had a Batman themed birthday party for him, he was so cute and had so much fun with all his cousins.

Here he is with the cake I made - my first attempt at marshmallow fondantNow to do this all again with Jack's birthday coming up in a few weeks. I wish we'd just combined them. Next year I'll know better...

Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah!

Yesterday while we were driving in the car we were listening to the Glee version of 'Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga. When it came to this part -
"Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah!
Roma-Roma-ma-ah!
Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!
Want your bad romance"

Avery exclaimed "it's like they're talking in Spanish!"

He makes me laugh.

Before and After

We're not done with painting our apartment, but I thought I'd post the before/after pictures so far.
We love our happy little gnome! It's the first thing people see when they come to our house :)
When we got here the couches had hideous slip covers on them, so we switched them for some that are a little less nasty :)I used the curtains we had in our living room in Provo and turned them into 2 sets of short curtains, for the living room and empty room. It was way easy, but I think having curtains makes a huge difference. The empty room is still empty...we don't know what to do with it.We did do anything to the boys room except hang a curtain up, they love all the space to make a mess...I mean play. The kitchen and entry were the biggest projects, lots of painting. I don't have a before picture of the entry, except this one with Josiah and Alexandria. You can see the walls that were nasty and unpainted and the lack of railing. We painted, hung hooks over the first landing, hung a picture that was already up here and had a railing installed. I think the railing was by far the most annoying thing to paint!

The kitchen just needed lots of paint, and we hung some frames above the sink.I don't have any pictures of the bathroom before, but we painted it blue (which ended up a lot brighter than I thought it would, oh well.) and went with white and brown accents. It ended up pretty cute. We still need to hang the fixtures and what not in there. Our room could use some paint still, we'll see if/when we get to that. I did make a curtain for the sky light. It got old fast waking up as soon as the sun came up, shining in our faces. We're pleased with the amount of space we have, and it's been fun to fix it up a little.

Shatto Dairy

Earlier this week we headed to Shatto Dairy for a tour and milk tasting. It was a lot of fun, even if dairy farms aren't the best smelling place!

Waiting for the tour to start...Avery milked a cow
Jack loved saying "hi, baby cow!" and "ooooooo" which is how he says moo, who needs the 'm' anyway! We tasted banana, strawberry, rootbeer, orange something, and chocolate milk. Yum!
Avery even asked for more. Crazy.
We also got to taste test their squeaky cheese! I love squeaky cheese! It was a lot of fun, and of course we had to buy some of the milk to bring home. We like the strawberry and chocolate. Maybe someday we'll get adventurous and try the others too.

mmm cake!

Since Silas and Andy both graduated this year we decided to turn one of our regular family get togethers into a surprise graduation dinner. The only difference was the yummy cakes that my sister Sasha made for the guys. They looked great, and tasted yummy too!Happy Graduation Andy and Silas!!Josiah thinks he has to be the center of attention all the time... :)

Avery's view of family gatherings

A couple times this week I let Avery take pictures at a family get together. There are some unrecognizable pictures, but also some funny ones.

There are lots like these....

He likes close up's of people

...and self portraits.and he felt it was important to document what the kids were doing while the adults tried to play games! :)Now he begs for the camera any time we go somewhere. I do love to look at the crazy things he decides to take a picture of!
